PSALM 22
Christ in the Clouds, unknown master. Princely Collection. GR1998. Used with Permission.
Dominus regit me, et nihil mihi deerit:
in loco pascuae, ibi me collocavit.
Super aquam refectionis educavit me; animam meam convertit.
Deduxit me super semitas justitiae propter nomen suum.
Nam etsi ambulavero in medio umbrae mortis,
non timebo mala, quoniam tu mecum es.
Virga tua, et baculus tuus, ipsa me consolata sunt.
Parasti in conspectu meo mensam adversus eos qui tribulant me;
impinguasti in oleo caput meum: et calix meus inebrians, quam praeclarus est!
Et misericordia tua subsequetur me omnibus diebus vitae meae;
et ut inhabitem in domo Domini in longitudinem dierum.
(Ps 22, Vulgata)
The Lord will shepherd me,
and I shall never lack anything.
In a verdant1 place, there he made me encamp;
by water of rest he reared2 me;
my soul he restored.
He led me into paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
For even if I walk in the midst of death’s shadow,
I not will fear evil, because you are with me;
your rod and your staff they comforted me.
You prepared a table before me over against those that afflict me;
you anointed my head with oil,
and your cup was supremely as if intoxicating.
And your mercy shall pursue me all the days of my life,
and my residing in the Lord’s house is for length of days.

Luk 1:26-38
(We do the Sign of the Cross in Faith, Hope and Love which both opens and closes the sequence of prayer)
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And he came to her and said,
“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!”
But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall call his name Jesus.
He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High;
and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,
and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever;
and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
And Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be, since I have no husband?”
And the angel said to her,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;
therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
For with God nothing will be impossible.”
And Mary said,
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
And the angel departed from her.

Then came Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.
But he forbade him, saying: I have need to be baptized by thee, and comest thou to me?
But Jesus answered and said to him: Permit it now; for thus it becomes us to fulfill every righteous act.
Then he permitted him.
And having been baptized, Jesus immediately went up from the water; and lo, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And lo, a voice from the heavens, saying:
This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.

Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil. And having fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry. And the tempter came and said to him:
If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.
But Jesus answered and said:
It is written: Not by bread alone shall man live, but by every word that comes forth through the mouth of God.
Then the devil took Jesus into the holy city, and set him on the wing of the temple. and said to him: If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it is written: He will give his angels charge concerning thee, and in their hands they shall take thee up, lest thou strike thy foot against a stone.
Jesus said to him:
Again it is written: Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the proof.
Again, the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them, and said to him: All these will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then Jesus says to him: Get hence, Satan; for it is written: The Lord thy God thou shalt worship, and him only shalt thou serve.

After six days Jesus takes with him Peter and James and John his brother, and leads them up into a high mountain apart. And he was transfigured before them; and his face shone as the sun, and his garments became white as light.
And behold,
there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with him.
Peter answered and said to Jesus: Lord, it is good that we are here; if thou wish I will make here three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
While he was yet speaking, behold, a cloud of light overshadowed them; and lo, a voice from the cloud saying:
This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased: hear him.
And hearing it the disciples fell on their face and were greatly afraid. Jesus came forward, and touching them said: Arise and be not afraid.
... when they had lifted up their eyes they saw no one but Jesus only. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying: Tell the vision to no one till the Son of man shall have risen from the dead.

Let's pray (for our Shepherds):
In the Name of Jesus Christ, our God and Lord, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul and all the Saints, we confidently undertake to repulse the attacks and deceits of the devil.
O God, our refuge and our strength, look down with mercy upon the people who cry to Thee; and by the intercession of the glorious and immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Saint Joseph her spouse, of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and of all the Saints, in Thy mercy and goodness hear our prayers for the conversion of sinners, and for the liberty and exaltation of the Holy Mother the Church. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen
O Jesus, this is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, for the Holy Father and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
O Holy Mother of Priests, protect all priests from the dangers of their holy profession and lead the stray cardinals, bishops and priests who have failed their sublime vocation, with your kind motherly hand, back to the good shepherd! Amen
Let us pray for our Holy Father – Pope Francis I - and his eternal soul and pray for the Popes Raccolta intentions:
May the Lord preserve him and give him life and make him to be blessed upon the earth and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
May Thy hand be upon Thine holy servant and upon Thy son whom Thou hast anoited.
Lord Jesus, shelter our Holy Father the Pope under the protection of Thy Sacred Heart.
Be Thou his light, his strength and his consolation.
Amen
We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God
(Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genetrix)
